Remembering Haiti

This was only my second trip to a country I've learned so much about growing up in a Haitian household. I always dreamed about visiting Haiti, but I never imagined going to Haiti on a missions trip to help rebuild.

I had the honor of working with various organizations to build an orphanage for the loving children at the Lamb Center orphanage in Leogane, Haiti. We heard a story of a young boy who yearned for a family and a safe place to live. He said a prayer asking God to send him people who care for him and a safe place to live so he won't ever get crushed in another earthquake. It brought tears to my eyes to see his prayers being answered. I will never forget the hope he had and confidence that what he prayed for would come to pass.

Those smiles!!

I keep raving about these sweet girls.

Learning How to Relax

Hey Friends!

I know it's been awhile and I've missed being in touch with you all. I'm learning and forcing myself to relax. So many things have been on my list including preparing for my upcoming missions trip to Haiti to complete building the Lamb Center orphanage and to reconnect with the orphans. Please keep me and our team in your prayers as we're out on the missions field (12/8-12/15).

I've forced myself to turn down hangouts just so I can relax and just breathe. I'm learning that I can't be a support to others if I can't be the best me. So I'm just going to spend the next few days relaxing and spending quality time with my family.

What are some ways you balance a demanding schedule and find time for yourself? Advice and tips are always appreciated!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Fav Things/So Excited!!

Friends, I am beyond thrilled at what has been going on in my life. I recently moved into our very first home, my mom is hosting dinner at our childhood home and I'm going to Haiti on a missions trip in 2 weeks.

When I think of meeting all those precious orphans my heart literally starts to race. I've never been in love with kids I've only met for a few days.
Though all these great things have been happening and soon to come. It hasn't been a bed of roses.

I've had huge challenges on this road. When you are destined to rise higher you'll come across opposition. That's when you make a decision to either fight the good fight of faith or quit. Fight the good fight and win loves!

Have a beautiful, blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving!

Here are a few of my fav things of the week:

Starbucks Overload
I've been at Home Goods a little too often lately. This rug for $99!
Moment of bliss when the cable guy connected our cable after a week of no internet & TV.
My vanity room hooked up with lights!!

It's My Birthday!

My birthday juat passed and I'm 27 years young!! In the middle of moving into our new place, bracing the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, work and training classes for a side gig, I squeezed in some time to celebrate my bday.

I had an amazing night with some one of a kind outstanding ladies. Plus we went on a romantic double date with our close friends. I share a birthday with my oldest brother/soulmate (we're so similar) so I get double excited to celebrate my birthday.

We went to Negril Village restaurant and then we went Karaoke singing.
It was so fun and I got home super late and it reminded me of my college days.

Life is really about who you spend it with! I'm so grateful to be surrounded by the best.

Hope you guys have a safe and productive week. Thanks for stopping by!

Hurricane Sandy Relief & Election Day

First off, Congrats to our President on Re-Election and regardless of our views let's pray for the peace of our president Barack Obama and his family. I love America and she will rise and get stronger as we stand up for righteousness. It's righteousness that exalts a nation.

After the devastation that Hurricane Sandy left along the Northeast, our area is still putting back the pieces of what was left after the storm. Though you might not see as much media coverage, families are still scrambling to find housing, fresh water, electricity and shelter plus extra precautionary measures are being advised due to the pending nor'easter that is threatening our region. I think it's times like this when we form relationships and strengthen the bonds of existing relationships throughout our nation.

I want us not to forget each other during these great times of need. Find a great non-profit organization and volunteer and donate now. I have worked with Samaritan's Purse on missions trips and plan on going on one within a month. I highly recommend this organization as you can rest assure that their efforts and presence are seen in the local communities making an indelible imprint on the lives of our communities. Not only do they provide support in terms of material resources they also provide prayer and spiritual advisement in troubling times when depression is eminent in the midst of tragedy.

Take action and get involved today!

This image and link is for my local church and will help with their efforts:

Wishing all of you a safe and peaceful week full of love and random acts of care.

Fallin' For Fall

Hey Lovelies!

I've been having way too much fun playing with fall colors. I'm so glad that the color blocking trend is here to stay. Just when I thought I had to stow away some of my fav brights, I can still rock them with confidence all fall long.

Pinterest has really helped me with mixing colors and simply having fun with it. I must say I've been developing an unhealthy Pinterest relationship that must day. :)

Wishing you a lovely day full of grace, protection and favor. Cherish life and those around you. Never take them for granted.

The Wedding Celebration!

It amazes me how much money, time, energy and planning goes into an eight hour or so event. Then-boom, it all abruptly stops. I'm left feeling hung over and I don't even drink, sore and indulging in Chai Tea hoping my voice will regain its normal pitch. It was all worth it, every single sweat and energy!

My brother got married Sunday and it was such a fun and beautiful event. I put in a huge amount of work with assistance in planning the event and supporting my brother and his wife. The priest at the ceremony made a good point, real married life begins after they return from the honeymoon. So I pray for a loving union between my loved ones and that they learn how to be selfless and love each other patiently and passionately.

Marriage is a beautiful covenant and I'm glad that we're in this together. Love you bro!

Anniversary & Week in Review

Happy Friday Lovely People!!

I'm so thrilled that it's Friday! This week has been long and challenging, but I'm so glad I came out thriving. My hubs and I celebrated our 2nd year wedding anniversary. I can't stop thanking him for adding so much love and value to my life. He really is the most loving man I know. When I feel like cursing mean people out, he encourages me to forgive them. I must admit the 1st year of marriage had its rocky points being that it was our first time living together. We chose to wait to live together after getting married. As a result, we had to learn how live in harmony and transform into completely selfless individuals aiming to meet each other's needs before our own.

Thanks for celebrating with us!

Sending you guys lots of love and endless bliss in your marriage and relation

Bridal Shower Festivities

We had such a great time celebrating my soon to be sis-in-laws bridal shower. She was so caught off guard with all the love, food, decor and guests at the celebration. I absolutely love entertaining guests at our house and planning events for loved ones. I wouldn't do it as a career but I just love the smile and appreciation that comes from my loved one after seeing all the hard work we put into it.

Ok so I was a total Pinterest junky thinking of ideas to help her mother plan the event. It really went a long way!

Dominican cake is my favorite
