Baby Tomlinson Shower of Love!

Our baby shower really was touching and really overwhelmed me with love. I don't know if it's because I get hormonal at times or because I'm just beyond grateful. I think it's both but more so the latter!
I was so grateful to see all my family members show up to support me and Kirk in this new chapter of life. My friends were so selfless to help plan the event which was beautiful to witness as well.
Many people considered the shower to be a trek and far out in the 'burbs, so I was extra grateful to see all my beautiful cousins, aunts, uncles  and friends come out to show us love. It just really made a deep impact and I was just thinking of ways to reciprocate that love.

I had the hardest time looking for a cute dress to wear. I finally found something that fit and didn't make me look like an overweight nun (no beef w/ curvy nuns). It seemed like none of the maternity lines at the mall were trendy enough and made me feel unsexy. Yes, a girl has the right to want to be preg & sexy right?!

Anywho, Macy's had a cute Ralph Lauren dress I really liked and with the help of my fashionisto brother I snagged it and waddled my way out.

Thank you so much for stopping by Lovelies and I hope you have a wonderfully memorable Thanksgiving. Let's keep the thankfulness going into 2014 and into Black Friday and try not to slap a chick up for those oh-so coveted Isabel Marant boots for H &M. Not worth it, kinda lol!

October Celebrations & Reflections

Hey Loves!

October has been a wonderful month full of celebrations. My husband and I just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary (woot!) and my brother and his wife are celebrating there's as well. Not to mention, my brothers and I all celebrate our bdays in October. My oldest brother and I have the very same bday but he's 3 yrs older than me. We're like half twins (makes no sense but you get the idea...)

This year I will be turning 28 years young this Friday the 25th and I'm just immensely grateful. I'm grateful for where God has brought me and happy I'm not who or where I used to be. I think a word that could best describe how I feel would be content. Content not to say, I'm remaining stagnant but contentment in the sense that I'm satisfied with my portion and what I have. I feel free that I don't have to compare my life to anyone else's life and it feels liberating. As I focus on the path that lies ahead, I'm more confident than ever before. Obviously there will be days when you want a dream to come to pass so badly that you might find yourself gazing else where. But I'm reassured and reminded each time that He who began a good work in me is faithful to complete it. Then I get back on track and focus on what I've been called to do.

I encourage you to embrace your place of grace and who you've been called to be. No one can fit and complete that role better than you. Everything is made glorious in it's perfect time for those who persevere with determination and wait patiently.

Here's some pics of our celebrations:

Here's a bonus: 29 weeks!!

Friday Flashback: NY Fashion Week

It's never too late to check in with an old friend right? That's why I'm writing you! Happy Friday to you! I've been soaking in these last few days of being alone with my hubs until babygirl arrives in less than 3 months *gasps!

It's been really the best couple of months of the pregnancy. I've been getting to know her more through kicks, turns and punches. She actually responds and settles down when I rub my belly it's just a beautiful bonding experience.

I had the chance to stop by and hangout with all the fabulous people at Lincoln Center where Fashion Week was being hosted. The Shane and Falguni Peacock show took us on a whimsical ride with all the elaborately bold fashion forward pieces. Plus, they allowed me backstage to get in on all the action! Some of the perks of having a belly bump- people give you special treatment. ;)

Changes and New Beginnings

I know it's been like forever since I've written you. I've been enjoying a new chapter in my life. I'm currently 17weeks PREGNANT and my hubs and I are expecting our very first child Jan. 2014!!! Plus, I've decided to leave my desk job to pursue freelance On-Air/TV work.

With all these changes, I've been really excited embracing these new opportunities in my life. It hasn't been super easy especially during my 1st trimester dealing with body changes and especially my sensitivity to smells. Kirk and I were eating out a lot due to my inability to withstand the scent of cooking in the house plus let's not talk about the extreme fatigue. There were times I could hardly brush my tongue because I would gag. Seriously, stuff got real!

The second trimester has been a burst of livelihood pumped into me and a spur of energy I sooo needed.

At my family's pool at 15 weeks. #Bumpalicious

Kirk and I at a wedding at the Manhattan Penthouse.

I finally got to park in this spot while visiting Baby's R Us. I felt special, lol.
I helped a lovely family friend of ours with planning a baby shower and this family is truly an inspiration. I'm so big on family and the marriage unit. Nowadays divorce is thrown around so loosely,  usually used as the first or second resort when conflict arrives. It's so reassuring to be surrounded by peeps willing to love each other and stay together. Love it!!

Weekend Destinations!

Happy Summer!!

It's been quite awhile since we've been in touch due to major changes with my career and family have taken place (all good stuff) I look forward to sharing it all really soon.

In the meantime, I was able to get some fun time to myself in NYC this weekend. It's officially summer and all the food trucks were out, everyone shopping away and the infamous streets of NYC were jammed packed with limited elbow room. I also stopped by this great restaurant in SoHo Balthazar Boulangerie with the bomb mini burgers and shoestring fries.

Kate Spade NYC- Finally went shopping here.

Right before I stuffed my face

Dressing Room randomness. It got extra awkward when the attendant knocked on my door mid photo-shoot to see if everythings was ok.

Is it me or do you enjoy day trips solo- just you wandering away?

Random Acts of Love

Today I was full of tears of joy just thanking God for His goodness in my life. I don't take credit for the great love that He's constantly pouring out over my life. I think we all know some really loving and good people who've simply had a hard life and unfortunate situations happened to them. It's not because I'm a 'good' person that God chose to shower me with His blessings, instead it's because he's a good God. So I remain tremendously humbled and constantly amazed by His unfailing love.

I decided to stop by Wendy's because they have that new grilled chicken, whole wheat flatbread option, yah- it's pretty good, but I digress, lol. So anywho, I decided to give it a try and I looked at the car behind me and I was just overflowing with compassion for the lady in the vehicle behind me. She looked so frustrated. My friends & family know how emotional I get when I see something that touches my heart and moves me with compassion. I just thought to myself, "what can I do apart from praying for this lady?" I just knew hopping out of my car to speak to her was not fit for this moment- I would look like a MAJOR creep, but many times I really don't care about that in the end.

I decided to pay for her meal. The lady at the cash register thought I was a freak. But I just told her that I wanted to be a blessing to the lady behind me. I left her a note saying, "Jesus Loves You, Smile =)" I wasn't trying to proselytize convert her or anything. Just wanted to let her know that Jesus loves her. I don't know how she may have taken it, heck she probably flinged the little note out the window.  I didn't do it to receive a positive reaction in return. I think we live in a hurting world and 'hurt'
people hurt others. Once I recognized that Jesus loved me, there was nothing else that could stop me from enjoying life.

Thanks so much for reading. I know it's pretty long.

Have a lovely weekend and know that God loves you with an unfailing love. Pin It Now!

Baby Drama/Photog

Happy Thursday Friends!

Hope you've been having quite a productive week. My week has been jammed pack. My husband and I had a great time prepping for parenthood this week. Our friends had their second child and we were watching their toddler son who happens to be our godson. We learned firsthand what it means to lack sleep. Nonetheless, I loved being with him because he's such a sweet and brilliant little boy.

I had an impromptu photo shoot with my brother the other day as we stopped at a cafe in downtown Jersey City. If you're in the NY/NJ area and you're interested in a photographer for head shots, blog photos, event coverage and more please let me know. He offers excellent prices plus he's a graphic designer and photoshop czar. Here's a link to his website with all his work: Click Here-Ralph Andre
