Cruising- NY Skyline

by - 3:00 PM

Happy Monday!

My friends and I had a great time on the Brazilian Cruise courtesy of Affairs Afloat. The music was live, the people were fun and friendly, the food was tasty, the live band delivered great beats old and new school. Great girls afterwork chill spot in NYC.

To be quite honest, when my friend and I first arrived we must admit that we were pretty skeptical of the crowd because it was a mixture of elderly ladies (I suppose attempting to get their groove back, lol..) and a few men dressed in sweatpants and Hawaiian button down shirts. Not to offend anyone, my dad swears by Hawaiian button downs- it just didn't look like the typical NYC premiere socialite scene. But don't let the appearance turn you away. The people are so laid back and fun! We had a blast and made a bunch of new buddies. Great afterwork crowd on the top dance floor.

    1. I think you would enjoy yourself! Plus the SoHo boutiques and restaurants are a may attraction.

  3. I heart NY boat trips! They are always so much fun, I usually do the circleline cruise that leaves from chelsea and it is just too fun.

    1. Lmbo!! haha I think Kirk had to throw a few of his geeky stuff away before marriage we still joke about them til this day. Thanks..My face drama was a tragedy turned to large sum victory so I guess it kinda 'paid off' in the end. My college days were a scene from Hangover..crazayy!

  5. I love that you got the vibe aboard the cruise - it is quite a mix - but fun is the major theme! Thank you so much for taking the time to attend and write about the event, you and your friends are welcome back anytime. When I started the event 6 years ago I never dreamed that a Brazilian band in Hawaiian shirts would mix it up so well with a lovely group of ladies like you!

    1. Lol!! Hey Mandy, thank you so much for stopping by my blog- means a lot. The Brazilian band is beyond talented and plus they allowed a few of us on stage to bust a move =). We had a great time and the crowd made it so much more fun. I agree about the mixture, that's what makes NY so fabulous! xo

  6. Thanks so much for blogging about your experience. Ive been thinking about doing this for a while but have wanted to know a bit more of what im getting into. I love the pictures, too. One question--about how big is the boat and did it feel choppy? I'm a little nervous about getting seasick. :-/

    1. Hi Nichole! My apologies for the delay- the boat is pretty spacious and has 3 floors. It might be about 40ft wide (my math might be completely off.) The boat seems like an antique pattleboat the ones you see in Baton Rouge LA. When it pulls off it sounds a very boisterous and then it is smooth sailing. I think around 9pm near the end of the trip, the boat began to rock. Other than that it wasn't rocky or choppy. You might want to consider eating about 2hrs before boarding to avoid nausea depending on how your stomach reacts to food and the sea. Really hope this was helpful. It's a fun experience. Maybe not the ideal weekly event if you're not a city sea person
