Minor Changes

Today was off to a great start until my cramps kicked in and got sent home from work. Now I'm resting in bed and feel much better. I decided to be a fitness maniac and do Insanity late last night before bedtime- not the best idea for me. My husband is the sweetest he was so kind and accommodating to me so that helped.

Before I needed to take a nap
Lately, I've been doing a lot of water sports and my hair has been pretty damaged and crying out for some TLC. So I restocked on my Morrocan Oil products (kinda expensive) and my coiffeur chopped a good amount of my hair off so it can grow back nicely. So long to over processing my hair with relaxers, hair coloring and chlorine- a recipe for disaster. What's you're favorite hair secrets?! All hair texture secrets are welcome!

  1. i'm natural now, transitioned for 1 year ... haven't had my hair relaxed in two years. so crazy to me but i'm actually loving it.

right now all i do is conditioner wash my hair. i only use shampoo once every two months. i seal my ends with vatika oil and coconut oil. i need to purchase castor oil soon because i've heard amazing things about it.

i also tend to keep my hair in twists more often than not. it keeps me from bothering my hair and has encouraged hair growth.

i'm excited to see how my hair is in Jan 2013 because that will be a whole year for being natural.

sorry for that long comment which probably isn't going to help you anyway, boo.

  2. I went natural last year. I just recently put a texturizer in my hair which allows me to detangle my hair better which takes away the breakage I had. It was a must! My texture is difficult to manage. Anyways, I do a deep cond. like once a week (some I make, some that are store bought), as well as the baggy method which really helps my ends. You can check more info about that on Youtube.
Also check on youtube for tips on how to take care of your when going swimming. They say wet your hair really good so the chlorine doesn't damage your hair as much.

  3. I use coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil to add moisture to my hair and I only wash with conditioner most of the time.

  4. Ditto to what Faith said. I'm natural as well and have been going on two years now...I love it! If you want to protect your relaxed hair for your water events, I'd co-wash before and maybe put it up in a bun. Co washing, is washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo, which strips the hair. I hope this helps :)

  5. I've been transitioning for 3 years and I'll continue to do so. I usually cut more and more of my relaxed ends that are hanging on when I get my hair straightened. My hair is past my bra strap and I'm trying to get it closer to my waist as possible.

I generally just let my hair do its thing. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration, Kinky Curly products, TRESemme Naturals, and Coconut oil tend to do the trick when I wear my hair wavy. I don't try a lot of styles out on my hair. Seems like my little "regimen" works as my hair is constantly growing and is healthier than it has been in a while. I just hate when people ask if they can "feel" my hair when it's straight and when it's wavy/curly.
